Twitch subscriptions are a good way to support your favorite streamers and receive some benefits on their channels such as receiving their Emotes, Ad-free viewing, access to Subscriber-Only Chat Mode, and sub badges.
However, you may encounter a situation in which you decide to cancel a Subscription, so this guide will show you how it’s done!
How to Unsub on Twitch (Desktop)
Step 1: To access your Subscriptions in order to unsubscribe you must go to “Subscriptions”, located on the right-hand top side of any Twitch page, click your Avatar picture, and select “Subscriptions” from the dropdown menu.
Step 2: Click the cog symbol next to the subscription you’d like to cancel, and then click “Don’t Renew Subscription” (marked in red).
Step 3: After you’ve clicked “Don’t Renew Subscription”, the following page will open, allowing you to choose the reason for canceling. Choose the reason that suits you and then click on “Don’t Renew Subscription.”
After a successful cancellation, you will see that your subscription now states a “Sub End Date,” in which your subscription will expire alongside its benefits (including the channel’s emotes, and the sub badge).
If you wish to resubscribe to the channel at some point, you may do so after the “Sub End Date”.
How to Unsubscribe on Twitch (Mobile)
Unfortunately, there is currently no option to Unsubscribe on the iOS Twitch Mobile app.
If you’ve Subscribed to a channel through your Twitch App on your Android device, you can Unsubscribe to it through the app. However, if your subscription was made through your computer, you may only Unsubscribe through the computer.
How to cancel a Twitch subscription on an Android device
Step 1: On your Android device, open the Twitch app, sign in to your account, and navigate to the channel you wish to unsubscribe from.
Step 2: Once you’ve navigated to the page you wish to unsubscribe from, tap the “Subscribed” button.
Step 3: If you’ve subscribed to this channel through the app, you will see an option that says “Cancel Subscription”.
Step 4: After you’ve clicked “Cancel Subscription,” click it again to unsubscribe from the channel of your choosing and you’re done!
How to Unsubscribe on Twitch with an iPhone
From your mobile device, log in to your Twitch account then complete the following:
Step 1: Tap on your avatar to visit your profile.
Step 2: Click the Settings cog icon in the top right-hand side of the screen.
Step 3: Choose the “Subscriptions” option at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4: Scroll through your active subs and select the one you want to remove.
Step 5: Unsubscribe by choosing the “Don’t Renew” option. This will ensure that you are not charged at the beginning of your next month. You will not receive a refund on any remaining days and your subscription will last through the month.
Typical Reasons that Viewers Unsubscribe on Twitch
There are several reasons why viewers choose to unsubscribe from Twitch channels, some may include:
- Schedule changes – It may be that the streamer has changed their schedule so it no longer suits yours, or that your personal schedule changed, and you may not be able to watch their streams anymore.
- Payment method changes – It may be that you need to update your payment method for your subscription, in which case you must cancel your subscription and resubscribe using a different payment method.
- Bad interaction with the streamer – This one is mostly self-explanatory.
- Financial reasons – If your financial situation doesn’t allow you to keep your subscription, don’t!
- Other – You may only want to subscribe for one month, subtember is over, you’ve decided to switch to using Twitch Prime instead, or you just simply no longer wish to subscribe to the channel.
In either case, Twitch Subscriptions are optional, and you can always choose to support your favorite creators in a multitude of other ways (such as direct donations to their paypal account, bits, chatting in their stream, etc).
Can You Refund a Twitch Subscription?
Many people wonder whether their Twitch Subscription is refundable. However, according to Twitch’s Terms of Sale, the answer is no, as the terms specify that “cancellations are not permitted after a purchase, and [that Twitch] do not offer any refunds or credits, including, without limitation, fees for Subscription Services.”
Therefore, think carefully before you choose to subscribe to a channel, as you will not be able to request a refund if you regret your purchase.
Any Exceptions to Receiving a Twitch Sub Refund?
Twitch will typically refund subscriptions if they permanently ban a streamer from their platform, such as when they banned Dr Disrespect. There are very rarely other refund exceptions.

There are 3 tiers to Twitch subs. They cost the following in USD:
- Tier 1 – $4.99
- Tier 2 – $9.99
- Tier 3 – $24.99
