The first gaming scholarship was handed out in the year 2014 and more are being added year over year to students who have learned to apply the skills they created gaming to other aspects of their lives.

Kansas Wesleyan University (KYU) is located in Salina, Kansas. It was founded in 1886 and generally has around 800 students attending annually.

Kansas Wesleyan has esports teams that compete in Overwatch, League of Legends, Rocket League, and Hearthstone.

Kansas Wesleyan eSports Scholarship Details

Kansas Wesleyan has its own esports room that is fully equipped with high-end gaming equipment. Their scholarships to team members will range between $5,000 – $20,000 depending on availability, financial need, and the skill of the student.

To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be attending (or planning to attend) Kansas Wesleyan
  • Must be within Gold – Challenger range in League of Legends
  • Must have strong communication skills, worth ethic, and be coachable

To apply for an esports scholarship with Kansas Wesleyan, you will need to apply to their esports program by filling out the application form on their website. At the time of this writing, they were not recruiting, but you can always check to see their current status.
