How to Set Up Twitch Prime

calendar1 Last Updated

Many Twitch viewers don’t realize that they can use their Amazon Prime membership to subscribe to one Twitch channel per month for free. A channel must have Affiliate status in order for you to subscribe to it and a subscription with Twitch Prime has the same benefits as a traditional subscription.

Twitch Prime subs will be able to watch the channel ad-free, use the channel’s emotes, participate in the streamer’s subscriber benefits, and the broadcaster will be paid.

How To Set Up Twitch Prime

If you are already an Amazon Prime member, all you have to do to receive your Twitch Prime benefits is to sync your account. You can easily do this by following these steps:

Step 1: Go to twitchprime.com

Step 2: Click the “Sign in” button at the top right of your screen.

Step 3: Sign in using your Amazon account information.

You will receive your benefits the moment you have connected your accounts. If you live in a country that doesn’t have traditional Amazon services but has Amazon video, you can still sync your account through that website.

If you do not have an Amazon Prime (or Amazon Prime Video) membership, you will need to sign up for one in order to qualify for Twitch Prime. You can do this at amazon.com. In addition to Twitch Prime, an Amazon Prime membership offers many benefits including Prime Video, item discounts, free shipping, and more. You are currently able to sign up for a free trial.

How to Use Twitch Prime on a Channel You Already Sub To

If you are currently subscribed to a channel in the traditional method, you will need to cancel it in order to use your Twitch Prime. If you choose to do this, simply go to the subscription section of your account and click the “Don’t Renew” option. You don’t need to worry about losing your subscription tenure with a particular channel so long as you use your Prime membership within 7 days of it expiring.

Are Twitch Prime Subs a One Time Use?

Yes and no. Subscriptions are not automatically renewed each month. You are free to reuse your Twitch Prime on the same channel or choose a different one each month.

The Oh No! We Can’t Enable Twitch Prime on Your Account Error

In order to enable Twitch Prime on your account, you need to make sure that you are using a card that doesn’t expire in the next three months and registered in your own country.  Twitch Prime is available through Amazon Prime in the following countries (the links will take you to the proper site):

If your country isn’t on the list, you will need to cancel your Amazon Prime and sign up for Prime Video. You can go to the Prime page on Amazon to see if the flag displayed is your country’s flag. If it isn’t, you may have to deactivate your current account, and set it up again properly.
