calendar1 Last Updated

As the season begins to change from summer to autumn every year, children and adults across the United States start anticipating hot pumpkin spice lattes, hay mazes, and Halloween. Even the spiders seem to work overtime to create additional decor to orange and purple lights, little figurings, and jack-0-lanterns that are placed out.

Meanwhile, people stay inside watching seasonal movies while eating caramelized apples and planning their Halloween costumes. Others switch from their usual video entertainment and immerse themselves in the world of horror video games.

As a streamer, this is your opportunity to capitalize on the season’s festivities. Even if you don’t usually participate in cosplay, dress up and engage with your audience by playing games they want to enjoy for Halloween.

We have compiled a list of 31 games that you can play or stream over Halloween season. We have included both new and classic games to the list to meet the needs of all broadcasters and their communities. We hope you enjoy.

Multiplayer Games

Whether you stream on Twitch, Mixer, YouTube, Facebook Gaming, or another platform, you will find people who will want to play with you and appear on your stream. Here are a few popular games that streamers can play with their fans:

1. Dead By Daylight

Released in 2016 by Behavior Interactive, Dead by Daylight is available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch gamers. It is a 1vs4 online multiplayer game. One player is designated the killer who actively hunts to kill the other four. The four can’t fight their predator, only hide from them. The game ends when all four hunted killers either escape or are killed.

Streamers can play with select viewers either as the killer in a “Kill Your Friends” game or as a fellow survivor against a random killer in a “Survive with Friends” game.

2. Don’t Even Think

Don’t Even Think is a 2019 PS4 game brings a new look to the battle royale genre. This free-to-play PvP game pits humans and werewolves against each other. Each game starts with 24 players (separated into groups of three) and three werewolves. In addition to killing each other, players are supposed to be seeking out data spheres. Ultimately, the goal is to escape. Players can also choose to play as a werewolf.

As it stands, it will need a few updates to stand out against other battle royale games, and there is no way to create your own parties. This will hopefully change in the future to allow PS4 streamers to play with their viewers.

3. Dying Light / Dying Light 2

Dying Light was released in 2015 by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Techland Publishing. This parkour-driven, action-packed game follows the player in an urban open-world environment. The game hosts more than 100 weapons with over 1,000 total weapon possibilities.

There is a day and night cycle in the game. Players must scavenge the world for sustenance and materials to repair their weapons. They can visit airdrops and save people reasonably easily during the day. At night, the zombies become more aggressive. There is a good reason to go out at night, as you get bonus experience from completing tasks which help develop your character.

There is a multiplayer aspect of the game where up to 4 players can play cooperatively.

Dying Light 2 was released in early 2020.

4. Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th was first released in 2017 by Gun Media. The game is based on the film franchise, Friday the 13th. In this asymmetrical multiplayer game, players can either play Jason Voorhees or camp counselors from Camp Crystal Lake. Up to 8 players can play at the same time. Jason’s goal is to kill the counselors before they can escape or the time runs out.

There are many different scenarios in the game. Some are based on the movies, and others are new. There are also five different semi-open world maps. Each corresponds to the place and time in a film. As you can make private matches, this is an excellent game for streamers to play with their following. The streamer should play the part of Jason; however, as trying to escape from someone watching your stream isn’t ideal entertainment.

5. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan was released in August 2019 by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It is available for Xbox One, PS4, and Microsoft Windows users. It is the first of eight games that the developer plans to release in “The Dark Pictures Anthology” franchise. It is a single or multi-player game.

Gamers play from the perspectives of one of five individuals who are trapped on the ghost ship, Ourang Medan, in the South Pacific. It is played in the third-person, and each player must make quick decisions based on their character’s “heart” or “head.” They can also choose to do nothing. The game will change based on the character’s decisions. There are portions of the game that must be done quickly to avoid facing the consequences for the players. There are multiple endings to the game based on the character’s decisions and actions.

Unfortunately, the multiplayer aspect of this game is a coop that requires all players to be using the same device, so streamers can’t play with their viewers. However, if you have one or two close friends in your area, consider dressing up for Halloween and live-streaming with them as your guests at a “mini-party.

6. Left 4 Dead / Left 4 Dead 2

Valve Corporation released Left 4 Dead in 2008. It is a first-person shooter that has multiplayer options. Players can choose to play cooperatively in a 4-player mode or against each other in an 8-player mode. Extra characters are filled with AI characters if no humans are available.

Left 4 Dead is a first-person shooter game in which characters strive to survive against zombies. Six different campaigns lead gamers through different maps. Each campaign has five chapters with a “safe room” (checkpoint) between them. There are several methods in which the character can go from one checkpoint to the next.

Left 4 Dead 2 was released in 2009 by Valve Corporation. It gave the audience new campaigns that alter slightly as the players make decisions in it. It can also be played in both single-player and multiplayer mode.

The Evil Within 2 was released in 2017. In this game, players must search the world to rescue the character’s daughter. The game has three levels of difficulty, and the map is larger than the one in the first game. Players must complete objectives while looking for resources and crafting weapons.

18. Limbo

Limbo was released in July 2013 by Playdead.  It is available on several platforms. The grayscale, two-dimensional game has very few ambient sounds that make for an eerie gaming experience. Gamers operate a little boy through a world that has several hazards while they solve puzzles to reach the next checkpoint. Most players will die multiple times before finally finishing the game.

The game is fun to play and very beautiful to watch. It would make for a stunning stream. Consider filming yourself in grayscale as well for these episodes.

19. Stela

Stela is an Indie horror game that was released in October 2019. It is similar in game-play to Limbo (see above) where the player moved the character in a two-dimensional world to overcome puzzles.
