The first gaming scholarship was handed out in the year 2014 and more are being added year over year to students who have learned to apply the skills they created gaming to other aspects of their lives.

Mark Beaumont is a Scottish endurance athlete, author, broadcaster, and public speaker. He is the current record holder for cycling around the globe, completing the journey on September 18, 2017.

He carried the 2012 Summer Olympics torch on day 26, has competed in many events, and has made several appearances in the media. In 2016, he announced the Global sponsorship fund on his Twitter.

Mark Beaumont Scholarship Details

The Mark Beaumont scholarship offers two different students $2,500 toward their education fees. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must meet the following:

  • Must be a citizen of the United States
  • Must be an undergraduate or above to apply for the scholarship
  • 3.3 GPA or higher
  • Must intend to enter the gaming industry. While there is no required major, presenting on how your study will impact your future in gaming would potentially be helpful with your application.

Applications typically need to be submitted by the end of May.

To apply for the Mark Beaumont scholarship, you need to submit your application to the website. You will also need to provide the following with your application form:

  • Two recommendation letters
  • Personal statement
  • Transcript
  • Enrollment verification
  • Contact information for your university
