How to Donate on YouTube Gaming

calendar1 Last Updated

Donating to a YouTube Gaming channel will help encourage the streamer and keep them broadcasting. Running a stream channel can take a lot of time and many streamers invest in new equipment, graphics for their stream, and other perks.

This post will cover a few of the ways you can donate to YouTube Gaming to support your favorite content creators.

How to Become a YouTube Channel Member

To become a channel member to a streamer while they are live, you will need to complete the following:

Step 1: Click the “Join” button beneath the video player. It will be next to the “Subscribe” button. If a streamer doesn’t have the “Join” button, they are either not Live or they don’t have the ability to accept memberships on their channel.

Step 2: A pop-up screen will appear that will show you their emotes and the price to become a channel member (generally $4.99). Click the “Join” button again.

Step 3: You will be directed to another page where you will input your credit card information. You also have the option to pay through PayPal.

If the channel is not online, you can still become a member by going to their channel page. You will be able to find the “Join” button underneath their YouTube banner. Simply follow the same steps.

How to Donate Through Super Chat

You can also donate through Super Chat. Not only will this give your favorite streamers cash, but it will also highlight your message and post it at the top of the screen for a period of time. Here is how you can participate with Super Chat:

Step 1: Click the money symbol that sits at the bottom of the chat box. This will open up three different options: Super Stickers, Super Chat, and Join.

Step 2: If you choose Super Stickers, you can choose a sticker that costs between $2 t0 $50. After picking it, you will be able to see how it will appear. If you are satisfied, click the “Send for $2.00” button and process your payment information.

Step 3: If you choose Super Chat, you can choose a pre-determined amount between $1 to $500 and add your message to your chat. Your chat will appear at the top of the streamer’s chat for a period of time that is based on the amount you spent.

Donate Through a Third-Party Company

Occasionally, a streamer will have an option available to donate through a third-party company (such as Streamlabs or Patreon). Read their description carefully to see if you find any information. This will vary from streamer to streamer.

Conclusion

Many streamers will also sell merchandise and will receive a cut from sales made. If a streamer is working with a sponsor or affiliate program, you may also be able to support them through supporting the company. When in doubt, ask the broadcaster how you can support them best.
