Charity Stream for The Make-A-Wish Foundation

calendar1 Last Updated

The Make-a-Wish Foundation’s hope is to be able to enrich the child (and their family’s lives) by promoting joy and hope. This post will explain a bit about the charity and what you can do as a streamer to help.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a 501 Non-Profit organization that works to grant wishes to minors between the ages of 2.5-18 years old at the time they were referred to the organization. To be eligible for a wish, the child must have a life-threatening illness or medical condition.

How to Set up a Charity Stream with Make-A-Wish Foundation

  1. Register on the Tiltify and set up your charity event.
  2. Spread awareness about the Make-A-Wish Foundation on your streams and in your social media ahead of time.
  3. Create channel rewards to encourage donations. Link to the Tiltify page when people want to make a donation.
  4. Promote your stream through social media and on forums that are relevant participants.
  5. Thank your participants after the stream through a shout out over Discord, your socials, or a highlight reel on YouTube.

A Little About the Make-a-Wish Foundation

The Make-A-Wish Foundation began after the death of a little boy with leukemia. Chris Greicius was 7 years old when his wish to be a police officer and “catch the bad guys” was granted. Later on, when Chris passed away, he was given the funeral of a police officer.

His death was part of the inspiration behind the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which was founded shortly thereafter.

What Wishes Are Made to The Make-a-Wish Foundation?

The Make-a-Wish Foundation grants a wish on an average of every 35 minutes with the hope that the wish will improve the life of the child. Each eligible child is granted one wish. The median cost of a wish is a little more than $10,000.

While wishes aren’t always granted, the foundation tries to find a way to make dreams come true. In fact, they allowed one little boy to blow up a building!

Here are a few of the common types of wishes that children make:

Meet a Celebrity

Some children want to meet a celebrity or a public figure. Children will ask to meet a celebrity, musician, movie star or a political figure.

While not all celebrities agree to be met, former pro-wrestler John Cene has met more than 500 children through the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Other celebrities who have met children include Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Gordon Ramsey.

Some kids even want to meet YouTube stars, such a Reed who got to hang out with Ryan from Buzzfeed Unsolved.

Try A Profession

Some children want to try out a profession for a day. The Make-A-Wish Foundation will partner with fire stations, police stations or businesses to show a kid what it would be like to work in that profession.

Travel and Adventure

Some children wish to visit a beach or a place where they can share an experience with their families. The Make-a-Wish Foundation provides travel for the child and their immediate family (2 parents and any other children under the age of 18). Disney theme parks are very popular destinations.

Some children also travel to attend concerts or sporting events.

Special Item

Some children want a special item such as outdoor play equipment, a computer, a car, or a special toy that they have longed for a while. The foundation does its best to grant these wishes in a fun way.

Pay It Forward

Another common request that children often make is for wishes that enrich the lives of their families or people in their communities. This is a beautiful way in which these children can pay forward the charity given to them.

Use Tiltify for Charity Streams

The Make-a-Wish Foundation allows you to hold charity streams for them using their partner, Tiltify. Tiltify allows you to build crowdfunding pages, create rewards, explain your stream schedule, and more.

The Foundation also has a streamer toolkit on its website with graphics and overlays that you can use for their stream.

Ask Your Viewers About Their Wishes

As a way to encourage interaction, ask your viewers what they wish for and what they would have wished for as a child. Not only will this make for fun conversation, but people will also consider granting wishes for children with terminal conditions.

To add to the wish-making fun, play a game featuring a genie just for the hype.

Conclusion

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a great charity to donate to if you want to impact the life of a child and their family. This well-known company is known for its integrity and generosity of spirit.
