    Asphalt Legends 9

Asphalt 9: Legends is a racing game by Gameloft and the 9th installment to this franchise. When released on July 26th, 2018, this title reached 4 million downloads in its first week across all platforms, and over a year later, it released a port for the Nintendo switch.

In Asphalt 9, you’ll find race against 7 opponents in multiple street maps. You will be forced to make sharp turns and even avoid traffic as you race to the finish line.

As you progress through the career mode, you can unlock new cars and apply a selection of customizations to make the vehicles feel personal. As of November 2020, there are over 100 cars for you to potentially unlock. Asphalt 9 is available directly from the Microsoft Store.

  2. Forza 6: Apex

    Forza Motorsport Apex

Forza 6: Apex is a motorsport-style racing game. Developed by Turn 10 Studios and published by Microsoft studios – Forza 6: Apex was released on September 6th, 2016, as a free-to-play version of Forza 6, available only on the Microsoft Store. It’s visually stunning and offers a lot of gameplay for a free title.

In Forza 6: Apex, you will have the opportunity to drive over 60 cars – cleverly engineered to drive the same way as their real-life counterparts, each car will feel completely different from the last.

There are also 6 tracks, based on world-famous tracks, to compete on. It’s not all smooth sailing, though, as Apex offers adaptive weather conditions such as rain and even night racing for a little more challenging experience.

  3. Overkill 3

    Overkill 3

Overkill 3 is a third-person shooter brought to us by Game Troopers and released on February 26h 2015. Despite being over 5 years old, Overkill 3 has a great campaign storyline, immersive cutscenes, and fantastic graphics, even by today’s standards! You can download Overkill 3 directly from the Microsoft Store.

In Overkill 3, you will find yourself in an immersive futuristic world run by the oppressing Function. Everyone must follow and obey the Faction or meet certain death. Fight this poverty-stricken, apocalyptic world and take down the faction! It’s a lot of fun, possibly the best free-to-play story-driven game.

  4. Tiny Troopers 2: Special Ops

    Tiny Troopers

Another great title by Game Troopers, Tiny Troopers 2: Special Ops, is a top-down squad-based multidirectional shooter. It was released on July 10th, 2015, and is available on Steam for $6 or FREE on the Microsoft Store.

In Tiny Troopers 2, you will progress through special ops missions with your team of troops. You’ll be able to drive tanks and use overpowered weapons such as rocket launchers. My favorite part of this game is the zombie survival-style game mode, in which you will take on waves and waves of zombies and see how long you can survive.

  5. Angry Birds 2

    Angry Birds 2

We’ve all heard of Angry Birds. Well… most of us! Angry Birds 2 is a really fun free-to-play game brought to us by Rovio Entertainment. Following the success of Angry Birds, the sequel was released on PC on August 15th, 2019. The mechanics are simple; launch a bird from a slingshot and knock the pigs off their platforms.

In Angry Birds 2, you’ll have even more birds to choose from, and interesting mechanics like a leveling system used to level up your birds and potentially beat your high scores on previous levels. It is very addicting… and available from the Microsoft Store.

  6. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

    CS:GO

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, or CS:GO as commonly referred to, is a multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment.

It was originally released on August 21st, 2012, as a strictly online title, which cost $14.99. However, in August 2018, an offline mode was introduced, allowing players to fight against bots. In December 2018, CS:GO transitioned into a fully free-to-play title and remains as such on Steam.

In CS:GO, you will find yourself battling in a squad, referred to as counter-terrorists, against terrorists. You must complete objectives such as; diffusing and planting bombs or even protecting hostages.

Though CS:GO is a much better experience online, the offline features offer a similar experience and a tone of enjoyment in a less competitive situation.

  7. Candy Crush Saga

    Candy Crush Saga

Candy Crush Saga is a match-three puzzle game. It was released on April 12th, 2012, by King for Facebook. After the success that followed the title, it was released on iOS, Android, and Windows making the game fully functional offline and available to download for free on PC on the Microsoft Store.

In Candy Crush Saga, you have to match 3 or more of the same candy pieces in a row to collect points and meet targets of each level. Sounds simple right? It is.

But don’t be fooled; it’s much more addicting than it sounds. As you progress, obstacles will be added to make it a little harder to match the candy.

  8. Microsoft Treasure Hunt

    Microsoft Treasure Hunt

Minecraft Treasure Hunt is a free logic puzzle game by Xbox Game Studios. It was released on April 24th, 2014, for the Microsoft Store as a kind of variant to Minesweeper.

Like Minesweeper, in Microsoft Treasure Hunt, you will be tasked with uncovering spaces on the grid and avoiding mines as you go. However, not only danger lurks beneath the rocks!

In Treasure hunt, you will uncover gems and other treasures like tools, weapons, and even bonus levels filled with lots of loot. Be sure to check this one out. As an adaptation of the classic Minesweeper… it is a blast!

  9. Starcraft

    Starcraft

Starcraft comes from the famous Blizzard Entertainment. It’s a game of strategy that expects you to attack your enemies, construct your base, and manage your resources. In this real-time strategy game, you’ll encounter creatures of different races.

Regardless, your goal is to defeat them at all costs. You can choose to play one of the following versions:

  10. Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms

    Idle Champions

If you are a fan of Dungeons & Dragons, then this game is for you. You’ll see a lot of familiar characters in the Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms video game since most D&D characters are in the game.

This is another strategy game where you collect champions and master their special skills. With this game, you can go on an all-out, exciting, and unexpected adventure. You can find and download this game on Steam.

  11. Bubble Witch 3 Saga

    Bubble Witch 3

Another match-three title to the list, developed by the same makers of Candy Crush, is Bubble Witch 3 Saga. This title was released on January 31st, 2017, and is available across iOS, Android, and Windows from the Microsoft Store.

Bubble Witch 3 Saga is a match-three bubble shooter that follows a storyline. The story follows Stella The Witch, who tries to defeat the adorable villain, Wilbur. Wilbur is a hamster, by the way! This game is every bit as ridiculous as it sounds, but it is a ton of fun to play for hours on end.

  12. Fallout Shelter

    Fallout Shelter

Fallout Shelter is a simulation game developed and published by Bethesda. Released originally on June 14th, 2015, as an iOS game, it wasn’t until July 2016 that PC players got their port.

Fallout Shelter might be slightly different from what you expect from an addition to the Fallout series, but it’s definitely as good in a different way. You can get your copy from Steam.

In Fallout Shelter, you build and manage your own vault as an overseer. You will be tasked with directing dwellers to build and gather resources to improve and reinforce your vaults.

Make sure your dwellers are happy and healthy by meeting their needs, such as; power, food, and water. Once you get past the unique graphics of this addition to the Fallout series, you’re sure to enjoy playing this one.

  13. 0 A.D.

    0 A.D.

0 A.D. or Zero Anno Domini is a historical strategy game in ancient times. As the game’s title tells us, you’ll be playing before the time of 0 A.D.

Your goal is to train armies and create strategies that will help you win battles and wars. Furthermore, you are expected to help grow your town’s economy and technology. You can download this game from their website.

  14. City Island

    City Island

City Island is another simulation game you can download and play offline. In essence, your goal is to build a city on an island (as the title suggests). By building this new city, you’re automatically its mayor.

As city mayor, you want what’s best for your people. So, to add to the objectives of the game, you are expected to improve and expand your city to give your people better opportunities and ultimately make your city a healthy and wealthy place to live.

  15. FlightGear

    FlightGear Flight Simulator

Maybe you can guess what the game is about based on the title. FlightGear is a simulation game of, guess what, flying an aircraft. You can download and play this game on different operating systems.

  16. Fishing Planet

    Fishing Planet

Are you interested in aquatic life, specifically fish? Or maybe you enjoy going to a lake and fishing? If so, Fishing Planet may pique your interest.

This video game allows you to go fishing virtually. But don’t be fooled; this offline game is as realistic graphics and a first-person point of view. You’ll surely get sucked into its world while waiting for a fish to bite your bait. You can find this title on Steam.

  17. GT Racing 2

    GT Racing

GT Racing 2 has amazing graphics and true-to-life car physics. It’s a great car racing game that lets you drive and race some of the most expensive and high-end vehicles in today’s world.

The great thing about these free video games is the option to play multiplayer. This way, you won’t have to be racing by yourself. You can challenge a friend or a family member to race around the tracks. You’re free to download this on Microsoft.

  18. GreedFall

    GreedFall

GreedFall is one of the best offline pc games on this list, with an interesting storyline and great visuals. In this game, you’ll be playing the role of De Sardet. You’ll find yourself discovering the many magics and mysteries of an island.

At the same time, you’ll uncover secrets and face different enemies you’ve never thought to imagine. If you find this game interesting, you can get it on Steam.

  19. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

    The Witcher Wild Hunt

Technically, Witcher 3 is free for PC users… if you already own it on your consoles like PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch. So, we’ll be sneaking this in as a technically-free offline PC game.

As Geralt of Rivia on Witcher 3, you’ll navigate a place full of monsters and creatures. In this role-playing game, you are expected to defeat the many monsters that come your way. But you won’t engage in hand-to-hand combat since your character is equipped with a sword and crossbow.

The ending of this game depends on the decisions you make along the way. And these decisions affect not only you and the ultimate ending but also the other characters’ lives you meet. Be brave and careful. You have 36 alternate game endings.

Conclusion

Those are the top free games we’ve found for you. Feel free to find the best offline PC game for you, or better yet, try them all! These types of games are great when you want to pass the time.

But these free offline games can be lifesavers in scenarios like suddenly losing your internet connection. These are also great games you can let kids play.
